Alvar Aalto Art Posters: Classical Tradition and the Modern Movement
Classical Tradition and the Modern Movement
The Classical Tradition and the Modern Movement poster was designed for the second international Alvar Aalto Symposium, which was held in Jyväskylä on 6–8 August 1982. The symposium lectures dealt with the relationship between modern architecture and the heritage of classicism, and were intended to stimulate discussion on a topic that was perceived as topical at the time. The symposium was chaired by Matti K. Mäkinen. The poster is illustrated with a detail of the architect Uno Ullberg’s tombstone from 1944, which was designed by Alvar Aalto.
