Total size 30 x 40 cm, image 16 x 24 cm.
Alvar Aalto (1898–1976) designed his buildings with a strong connection between architecture and the surrounding landscape and nature. The affinity between Aalto’s production and nature is an oft-repeated theme, which was studied at the exhibition Cultivated Landscape of Alvar Aalto, which was on display in 2020.
Aalto’s plan for Lyngby-Taarbaek Cemetery (Denmark) is located on slopes in a hilly location with the area divided into fan-shaped paths that become wider when descending from a higher elevation and accompanied by small canals typical of the Islamic garden.
